Brian Barr, a junior at Souderton Area High School who lives on Railroad Avenue, has been named Souderton Borough’s new Jr. Councilor that will work with the borough’s administrative team and Board of Supervisors for the next 2 years.
“The Jr. Councilor position is a state-wide program that is designed to encourage the youth to get more involved in their community’s municipal government,” says borough manager Mike Coll who has worked with many Jr. Councilors throughout his career at Souderton.
Coll says the Board of Supervisors and borough administration hope to create an experience for the Jr. Councilor that inspires Barr to contribute to Souderton or his future community for life.
“Many past Jr. Councilors have chosen college degrees in Public Administration to one day become a borough manager,” says Coll. Coll says one of the advantages of working with a Jr. Councilor is that it brings a fresh youth-orientated perspective to the meeting table.
Welcome aboard, Brian Barr!
