Souderton Pool

Donate to the Pool

The Pool Fundraising Committee reminds the community that donations will be accepted throughout the project, and naming opportunities are still available for many of the pool’s amenities. To donate by credit card call the Souderton Borough office at 215-723-4371. To donate by check, download the donation form and mail it with your check payable to the Make Your Splash Pool Campaign, Souderton Borough Office, 31 W. Summit Street, Souderton, PA 18964.

All gifts of $5,000 or more are considered a major gift and will be acknowledged on the entrance dedication wall of the Souderton Community Pool. For additional information visit the Souderton Pool Fundraising Committee’s website.

$2 Million to be Borrowed for the Pool Construction in 2010

Borough Council approved $2 million in debt service to fund pool construction in the 2010 budget, $1 million less than the projected project cost of $3 million. The $2 million will be enough to renovate the pools, but community support and additional funding will be needed to construct the new bath house and water features. “The less debt we incur, the less we will need to add to the membership rate,” said Borough Manager Mike Coll.

The borough continues to look for outside funding to make up the difference. In addition, we are actively looking for community support through donations of water features and contractor time.

Construction Underway Begin Spring 2010

With funding to be secured in early 2010, construction is underway with the goal of re-opening the pool on Memorial Day weekend in 2011.

Conceptual Plan for Renovated Pool

The conceptual plan calls for a rehabilitation of the upper pool, which includes building bulkheads which will be constructed to separate the pool into different sections. A zero-entry area will have a gradual slope that makes the pool handicapped accessible and serves as an area for young children to play and swim. The plan also includes water features, such as water mushrooms and sprayers, and slides. The diving well will be reconstructed with a diving board and water deep enough for competitive diving.

The lower lap pool will remain virtually the same, but will receive a new filtration system, new coping, and new plumbing.
